Biography
Lorenzo Di Giosaffatte (Rome, 1996) is an Italian conductor currently based in Paris.
In 2023, he launched his international career by winning First Prize at the 7th Atlantic Coast International Conducting Competition in Porto, where he conducted Brahms’ Symphony No. 1. He was recently a finalist in the second edition of the International Competition for Young Conductors “Peter Maag", with the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto (the jury’s absolute first prize was not awarded to any of the finalists).
In June 2025, he made his debut in Japan at the Toyama International Contemporary Music Festival, where he will return for the 2026 and 2027 editions.
Since 2018, he has conducted numerous orchestras in Italy and abroad, including the Orchestra dell’Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, Orchestra “I Musici” di Parma, Romae Philarmonia Orchestra, Toscana Classica Orchestra, Dresden Sinfonietta (Germany), Danubia Symphony Orchestra (Budapest), Kecskemét Symphony Orchestra (Hungary), Orquesta da Costa Atlântica (Porto), Siamo Orkest (The Hague), the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra (United States) and the Toyama Symphony Orchestra (Japan). His repertoire spans both the symphonic and operatic fields.
Lorenzo Di Giosaffatte (Roma, 1996) è un direttore d’orchestra italiano attualmente residente a Parigi.
Nel 2023 ha avviato la sua carriera internazionale vincendo il Primo Premio alla 7a edizione dell’ Atlantic Coast International Conducting Competition di Porto, dove ha diretto la Sinfonia n. 1 di Brahms. Recentemente è stato finalista della seconda edizione del Concorso Internazionale per Giovani Direttori d’Orchestra “Peter Maag” 2026, con l’Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto (il primo premio assoluto della giuria non è stato assegnato a nessuno dei finalisti).
Nel giugno 2025 ha debuttato in Giappone al Toyama International Contemporary Music Festival, dove tornerà anche per l’edizione 2026 e 2027.
Dal 2018 ha diretto numerose orchestre in Italia e all’estero, tra cui l’Orchestra dell’Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, l’Orchestra “I Musici” di Parma, la Roma Tre Orchestra, la Romae Philarmonia Orchestra, la Toscana Classica Orchestra, la Dresden Sinfonietta (Germania), la Danubia Symphony Orchestra (Budapest), la Kecskemét Symphony Orchestra (Ungheria), l’Orquesta da Costa Atlântica (Porto), la Siamo Orkest (L’Aia) e la Denver Philharmonic Orchestra (Stati Uniti) e la Toyama Symphony Orchestra (Giappone).
Lorenzo Di Giosa!atte (Rome, 1996) est un chef d’orchestre italien actuellement installé à Paris.
En 2023, il a lancé sa carrière internationale en remportant le Premier Prix de la 7e édition de l’Atlantic Coast International Conducting Competition de Porto, où il a dirigé la Symphonie n°1 de Brahms. Récemment, il a été finaliste de la deuxième édition du Concours International pour Jeunes Chefs d’Orchestre « Peter Maag » 2026, avec l’Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto (le premier prix absolu du jury n’ayant été attribué à aucun des finalistes).
En juin 2025, il a fait ses débuts au Japon dans le cadre du Toyama International Contemporary Music Festival, où il sera de nouveau invité pour les éditions 2026 et 2027.
Depuis 2018, il a dirigé de nombreux orchestres en Italie et à l’étranger, parmi lesquels l’Orchestra dell’Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, l’Orchestra « I Musici » de Parme, la Roma Tre Orchestra, la Romae Philarmonia Orchestra, la Toscana Classica Orchestra, la Dresden Sinfonietta (Allemagne), la Danubia Symphony Orchestra (Budapest), la Kecskemét Symphony Orchestra (Hongrie), l’Orquesta da Costa Atlântica (Porto), le Siamo Orkest (La Haye), le Denver Philharmonic Orchestra (États-Unis) ainsi que le Toyama Symphony Orchestra (Japon).
He furthered his training with Maestro Jorma Panula in the Netherlands and Hungary, and in the summer of 2023 he attended the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena under the guidance of Maestro Daniele Gatti. He is currently scolarship holder at École Normale de Musique de Paris, continuing his work on the French repertoire with Julien Masmondet and Lionel Snow.
He graduated in orchestral conducting from the State Conservatory “Alfredo Casella” in L’Aquila in 2021, studying with Marcello Bufalini, and received the highest honors. He then completed a second-level master’s degree with distinction, presenting a thesis devoted to the aesthetics of Mahler’s Lieder and conducting the Rückert-Lieder. During his studies, he also specialized in opera and lyric theatre.
Alongside his musical training, he earned a master’s degree in economics and management of cultural enterprises at the Treccani Accademia.
His training also includes piano studies with Svetlana Pekarskaja in Rome, as well as composition studies with Fabio Massimo Capogrosso, Claudio Perugini, and Mauro Cardi in L’Aquila.
Ha perfezionato la propria formazione con il Maestro Jorma Panula nei Paesi Bassi e in Ungheria e, nell’estate del 2023, ha frequentato l’Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena sotto la guida del Maestro Daniele Gatti.
Vincitore di una borsa di studio, attualmente prosegue il proprio lavoro sul repertorio francese con Julien Masmondet, direttore d’orchestra, e Lionel Snow, direttore di coro (Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France) all’École Normale de Musique ‘Alfred Cortot’ di Parigi.
Si è diplomato in direzione d’orchestra presso il Conservatorio Statale “Alfredo Casella” dell’Aquila nel 2021, studiando con Marcello Bufalini, conseguendo il massimo dei voti con lode. Successivamente ha completato il Biennio Accademico di II Livello sempre con il massimo dei voti e la lode, presentando una tesi dedicata all’estetica dei Lieder di G. Mahler e dirigendo i Ruckert-Lieder.
Accanto alla formazione musicale, ha conseguito un master in economia e management delle imprese culturali presso la Treccani Accademia.
La sua formazione comprende inoltre studi pianistici con Svetlana Pekarskaja a Roma, nonché studi di composizione con Fabio Massimo Capogrosso, Claudio Perugini e Mauro Cardi all’Aquila.
Il a perfectionné sa formation auprès du Maestro Jorma Panula aux Pays-Bas et en Hongrie et, durant l’été 2023, il a suivi les cours de l’Accademia Musicale Chigiana de Sienne sous la direction du Maestro Daniele Gatti. Lauréat d’une bourse d’études, il poursuit actuellement son travail sur le répertoire français avec Julien Masmondet, chef d’orchestre, et Lionel Sow, chef de chœur (, à l’École Normale de Musique « Alfred Cortot » de Paris.
Il est diplômé en direction d’orchestre du Conservatoire d’État « Alfredo Casella » de L’Aquila depuis 2021, où il a étudié avec Marcello Bufalini et obtenu son diplôme avec les félicitations du jury. Il a ensuite achevé le cycle supérieur de deuxième niveau avec les plus hautes distinctions, en présentant un mémoire consacré à l’esthétique des Lieder de Gustav Mahler et en dirigeant les Rückert-Lieder.
Parallèlement à sa formation musicale, il a obtenu un master en économie et management des entreprises culturelles auprès de la Treccani Accademia.
